Our Community
There are several ways on contributing to our community; you can use the forums, you can use IRC, or you can make your own community by establishing a fansite. The larger the community and the more participation there is within it, the better the game can become for everyone.
Forums
The forums are a great place to start being part of the community. Some people think that by joining a forum, that means you have to post, and you contribute to what is being said. That is helpful, but not entirely true. There will always be someone willing to post.
The forums can provide a lot of valued information. You will be able to see how other people do things, and gather ideas to improve your way of playing the game. There is also the Calendar, and the Announcements section that will also provide more information on what is happening, and on what is coming up.
While posting on a forum isn;t necesary, it is certainly helpful. The more people post, and the more information they give, the better the game can be for everyone. There can never be too much information. Not everyone will agree with everything said, and not everyone will like it. But everyone does prefer to have more information than less. And the only real way to make the forum community grow, is by posting and participating.
Posting on the Forums
When posting on the forums, try to show some common courtesy, some respect, and a little self restraint, then there should be no need for rules. The problem with that concept, is that people are emotional beings, and sometimes emotions and reactions, govern how the relate to others, and in those cases, sometimes boundaries need to be set.
There are a set of Guidelines for posting on the forums, and while they are called Rules, commonsense is the biggest factor. You can find the guidelines at: Forum Guidelines & Rules
IRC
IRC is another good place to try and build our community. IRC is a real time chat facility that allows for people to chat with others in a real time situation.
There are several ways to connect to IRC, firstly you can connect to IRC through our Web Portal. Alternatively, if you already have an IRC Client, then you can connect with the following information:
IRC Server Details
| Server | irc.jaemeia.net |
| Port | 6667 |
| Channel | #Mythical |
When I join IRC no-one is talking
That happens a lot. Because IRC is still rather infrequently used, those of us that spend 24/7 in there tend to be off doing other things since it is so quiet. Sometimes it takes a while for us to notice that someone has joined.
Sometimes the best solution, rather than quitting after the first minute or two, is to offer a greeting, say hello, and then wait for a while. Sometimes a greeting can happen fairly quickly, if someone is near their computer, sometimes it might take a while. But if you wait, you will eventually get a reply. You never know, someone else may join, and you can have a conversation with them.
The only real way that the IRC community can grow is if people stop by and chat with us, and spend some time in there. Don't worry, we only bite upon request.
I am new to IRC and don't know the commands
That's ok, we all had to start somewhere once upon a time. There are not really that many commands that are needed for beginniners, but what we have done is compiled a list of commands that you might find useful as a beginner, and that you may or may not need to use as you start to use IRC.
The list of commands has been kept intentionally brief, so that there is not too much confusion, and you will be able to find those commands by visiting our IRC Commands page that we created to help you.
Fansites
Fansites are a great way of contributing to the community. Whether you are making a fansite, being an active user on a fansite, or being a registered/recognised member of a fansite.
There are many different kinds of fansites; those that are self-serve, those that require registration, those that require admin intervention, forum-based fansites, social-media based fansites, and many more.
If you get involved with a fansite, and which kind of fansite, is completely your decission, it is just another way that you can help the community grow and become more established.
