Why does the site have staff
The Staff of the site help over-seeing the development, and day-to-day running of the site so that the site can run more smoothly. All Staff of the site are volunteers that donate their precious time to help try and make Mythical Moments a great success. With a balance of fair and generous staff to cater to the needs of the player/user, the site can maintain a sense of fair play and fairness that can make the environment enjoyable.
What are the perks of being a staff member
The only perk to being a staff member is that your name is a different color on the forums than a regular users name is. The concept behind Mythical Moments has always been fairness and equality, and that applies to all members; from the newest player to join, right through to the creator. No-one gets special treatment.
Special Rank on the forums
You just said that no-one gets special treatment, and yet there is a forum rank called Special, you lied! Well, not exactly. The special rank on the forum is reserved for the Creator's Mother. People with this rank can see what the moderators can see, but other than that, there is no advantage to having it. It just changes the name on the forum from the standard user color, to the Yellow color that is difficult to read.

On the forums, the rank table is such:

Staff Responsibilities
The staff ranks have different responsibilities. Some staff have multiple positions, but the responsibilities of each position remains relatively onstant.
Adminstrator
The responsibilities of the Administrator is to over-see all aspects of the Game. The forums, the IRC chat, the Sprites, and other aspects of the game.
Global Moderator
The role of the Global Moderator on the forums is two fold. Firstly, they are supervisor to Moderators. Secondly, they can moderate the forum as well.
Moderator
The role of a Forum Moderator is to look after specific sections of the Forums. Usually a moderator would be in charge of only one Section, but sometimes on the rare occasion more maybe assigned to the moderator.
IRC Staff
The responsibilities of the IRC Staff is to moderate and maintain order in the IRC channels that Mythical Moments maintain. This can be done by enforcing bans, kicking people, and general chat maintenance.
Special
Technically this is not a Staff position. This rank has no official standing within the game heirarchy, nor the game dynamics. This rank is for superficial purposes of showing respect.
Spriter
These are the people that make the game possible and enjoyable. Without their hard work and the creatures that they make and provide for the game, the game would have no heart and soul and wouldn't be available for all to use.
Writer
This rank of people are the ones that come up with all our descriptions for the creatures. Those words that you read when trying to determine whether or not you want the creature, they were created by this rank.
